Scope Scanner — Important Disclaimers
Last updated: 2026-09-13 · Version 5.4
1. What Scope Scanner Is
Scope Scanner is an information and analytics tool. It displays publicly available market data about digital assets — most importantly relative volume (RVOL), a ratio comparing an asset’s recent trading volume against its own historical average — together with price, price change, trading volume, market-capitalization figures, and how long an asset has been at elevated volume.
It also provides:
- Price charts, as a line or as candlesticks, over intervals from one minute to one week, drawn from historical candles supplied by the same third-party sources described in Section 5, with an optional crosshair readout of a single candle.
- Exponential moving-average (EMA) overlays — up to two per chart, at periods you choose. An EMA is an arithmetic average of past closing prices and nothing more. It describes what has already happened, it lags the price by construction, and it is not a forecast, a signal, or a recommendation — Sections 2 and 3 apply to it exactly as they apply to every other number in the App. Drawing one is a charting convenience, not analysis performed on your behalf.
- A watchlist and alerts you configure yourself, on a price or RVOL threshold you set, evaluated on your own device (Section 6).
- Token contract reference data with links to third-party block explorers (Section 7).
- Headlines from third-party news publishers (Section 8).
Contract data and headlines are pointers to other people’s information, not content the App produces.
That is the entirety of what the App does.
2. What Scope Scanner Is Not
The App is not, and does not operate as:
- an investment adviser, financial adviser, or fiduciary of any kind;
- a broker, dealer, broker-dealer, futures commission merchant, or money transmitter;
- a cryptocurrency exchange, custodian, or wallet;
- a source of investment advice, trading advice, tax advice, or legal advice;
- a trading signal service or recommendation engine;
- a news organisation, publisher, or editorial service.
Scope Labs LLC is not registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, or any comparable regulator in any jurisdiction. The App publishes general market information and does not provide personalized advice to any user.
No fiduciary, advisory, agency, or trust relationship is created between you and Scope Labs LLC by your use of the App.
The App cannot place trades, hold funds, hold assets, or move assets. It has no connection to any account you may hold at any exchange or broker. Nothing in the App executes, transmits, or routes an order.
2A. The Same Information, For Everyone, All the Time
This section describes how the App is built, because the way it is built is the reason Section 2 is true rather than merely asserted.
Nothing in the App is personalized. Every user sees the identical rankings, calculated from the identical public data, by the identical arithmetic. There is no account, no profile, no questionnaire, no risk assessment, no portfolio, and no record of who you are — not because we choose not to look, but because no such information exists anywhere in the App or on any server. Nothing can be tailored to your circumstances because your circumstances are unknown to the App and unknowable by it.
Nothing in the App is timed to a market event. Data is published continuously, to everyone at once, on a fixed schedule driven by the market feed itself. The App does not decide that a moment is significant and speak up. It has no editorial judgement to exercise and exercises none.
Alerts are your rule, not our advice. When you set an alert you choose the asset, the measure (relative volume or price), the direction, and the number. The comparison is then performed on your own device, against the same public data every other user sees. The App does not propose a threshold, does not fill one in for you, does not tell you whether the one you chose is sensible, and does not comment on the result. It is a calculator you pointed at a number.
Nothing the App shows you is influenced by anyone’s interest, including ours. Scope Labs LLC accepts no payment from any issuer, exchange, project, or promoter to feature, rank, mention, or omit any asset; runs no sponsored placements, paid listings, or affiliate arrangements; and earns nothing that depends on which assets you look at or what you do about them. Rankings are produced by arithmetic on public data and by nothing else — the same arithmetic, applied to every asset, with no manual override and no editorial hand.
The App is a general publication, and the people behind it may hold or trade digital assets like anyone else. No such holding affects what the App displays, in what order, or to whom, because nothing in the App can be adjusted per asset or per user — there is no mechanism to promote, demote, suppress, or highlight anything, and no position is disclosed to you because none is ever acted on through the App. Nothing here is written to move a price, and nothing here is a solicitation.
If any of that ceases to be true, this section must be rewritten before the change ships.
3. Nothing Here Is Advice or a Recommendation
No content in the App — no number, ranking, colour, flame icon, alert, chart, sort order, or placement in any list — constitutes a recommendation to buy, sell, hold, or refrain from transacting in any asset. Nothing is tailored to your financial situation, objectives, risk tolerance, tax position, or needs, because the App has no knowledge of any of them.
A high RVOL reading means only that an asset is trading at unusual volume relative to its own recent history. It says nothing about whether the price will rise or fall, nothing about whether the asset is a good or bad investment, and nothing about what you should do. Unusual volume occurs ahead of price increases, ahead of price decreases, and ahead of no price movement at all.
You are solely responsible for your own decisions, for your own research, and for the consequences of both.
4. No Promise of Results
Scope Labs LLC does not promise, guarantee, or imply any particular outcome from use of the App — financial or otherwise.
Specifically, and without limiting that statement:
- No representation is made that you will earn any profit, or avoid any loss.
- No representation is made that any asset surfaced by the App will move in any direction.
- No representation is made that using the App will improve your results compared to not using it.
- Any historical figure the App displays describes the past only. Past market behaviour does not predict future market behaviour.
Trading and holding digital assets carries substantial risk, including the risk of losing the entire amount committed. Do not commit funds you cannot afford to lose entirely.
5. Market Data Comes From Third Parties, and May Be Wrong
Market data in the App is obtained from third-party sources, currently Binance.US (prices, trading volume, and historical candles) and CoinGecko (market-capitalization figures, token contract reference data, and the asset names the App uses to match headlines to coins under Section 8). Scope Labs LLC does not produce this data, cannot independently verify it, and does not control it.
Some data is cached on your device to limit network use and respect source rate limits, and may therefore be out of date — for some categories by a long way. Prices and trading volume are refreshed continuously while the App is open and connected. Market-capitalization figures may lag the source by up to approximately six hours. Historical candles used for charts may be up to about a day old. Token contract reference data may be up to approximately thirty days old, because contract addresses do not normally change; if one ever did, the App could show the previous value for that long. All of it remains subject to everything else in this section.
Data may be delayed, interrupted, incomplete, out of order, stale, or simply incorrect, whether because of an outage, a rate limit, a network failure on your device, a defect in the App, or an error at the source. Sources may change their data, restrict access, or cease operating without notice.
Data shown in the App reflects activity on the venues its sources cover, not on all venues worldwide. Figures may therefore differ — sometimes materially — from those shown by your exchange, your broker, or any other tool. A difference does not mean either figure is wrong; it means the two are measuring different things.
6. Specific Limitations You Should Understand
These are known characteristics of how the App works. They are disclosed plainly rather than buried, because using the App without understanding them could mislead you.
RVOL is a ratio, not a price signal. It compares recent volume against a rolling historical baseline for that same asset. It is a measure of activity, not of value or direction.
Assets below a liquidity threshold are excluded from RVOL rankings. An asset with very little average volume can produce an enormous, meaningless RVOL figure from a trivial amount of trading. The App therefore omits such assets from its RVOL-sorted rankings. They remain visible via search and other sort columns. This is a deliberate design choice, and it means the ranking is not a complete list of every asset.
Hot-streak durations may be approximate. When the App calculates how long an asset has been at elevated volume, it can measure precisely only for the period it was actually running and observing. For any period before that, it reconstructs the duration from historical data at a five-minute resolution, and may be off by up to approximately five minutes. Durations the App has reconstructed rather than observed are displayed with a "~" prefix to distinguish them.
The flame indicator is deliberately delayed. The solid flame requires elevated volume to have been sustained for several continuous minutes. It is a confirmation, not an instantaneous alarm. A dimmed flame indicates the threshold has just been crossed but is not yet sustained.
A moving average needs history the chart may not have. An EMA cannot be computed until at least as many candles exist as the period you selected, so a long period on a short interval draws nothing at all rather than drawing something approximate. The App says so on the chart when it happens, and names how many candles it actually has. Where an EMA is drawn, its earliest values are the least settled.
Alerts are only generated while the App is open. The App watches for a threshold being crossed by processing live market data itself, on your device. It has no server watching on your behalf and it does not run in the background: when you switch to another app, return to the home screen, or lock your device, the App stops receiving market data within moments and generates no alerts at all until you open it again. A threshold crossed while the App is closed is not detected, and no notification is sent for it afterwards. This is how the App works rather than an occasional failure, and you should assume it when deciding what to rely on.
Alerts are not guaranteed to be delivered even then. They can also fail to arrive for reasons outside the App’s control, including notification permissions being disabled, Do Not Disturb or Focus modes, low-power mode, loss of network connectivity, or the device being off. Do not rely on an alert as your only means of monitoring anything that matters to you.
The App requires an internet connection and will not display current data without one.
7. Contract Addresses and Explorer Links — Read Before Sending Anything
For some assets the App displays a link to a third-party block explorer, labelled with that explorer’s name. The App resolves a token contract address from CoinGecko reference data, matches it to a trading symbol, and builds the link from it. The address itself is not shown on screen — tapping the link opens the explorer, where the address and everything associated with it can be read.
Ticker symbols are not unique. The same symbol may be used by several unrelated tokens across several blockchains, including tokens deliberately created to impersonate a well-known asset. The App resolves symbols to contracts using third-party rankings and cannot guarantee that any address shown corresponds to the asset you believe you are viewing.
Never send funds to, approve, or interact with a contract address on the basis of the App alone, including one reached by following a link from it. Independently verify any address against the asset issuer’s own official channels before transacting. Transactions on public blockchains are typically irreversible, and funds sent to a wrong or malicious contract are generally unrecoverable.
A link out to a block explorer is a convenience for further research. It is not an endorsement, a verification, or a representation that the contract is legitimate, audited, safe, or associated with any particular project. Scope Labs LLC does not operate, control, or review third-party explorers or the sites they may lead to.
8. News Headlines
The App may display headlines from third-party news publishers, with a link to the publisher’s own website. It shows the headline, the source, and the time of publication. It does not reproduce article text, and tapping a headline leaves the App.
Scope Labs LLC does not write, commission, edit, verify, fact-check, rank by merit, or endorse any of this reporting, and has no control over it or over the sites it links to. Headlines may be inaccurate, outdated, biased, promotional, or simply wrong.
A headline shown beside an asset is not evidence of any connection between that reporting and the asset’s price or trading volume. Headlines are matched to assets automatically, by looking for the asset’s name or ticker in the text. That matching is approximate: it can miss stories that are genuinely relevant, and it can surface stories that turn out not to be. The presence or absence of a news marker on any asset means nothing about whether news exists, whether it matters, or what will happen next.
Nothing in this section is a recommendation, and none of it is investment advice. Read the source.
If you are a publisher or rights holder and object to your headlines appearing in the App, the notice procedure in Section 5A of the Terms of Use tells you where to write. We act on such notices; we do not require you to argue the point first.
9. Digital Assets Carry Distinct Risks
Digital-asset markets differ from traditional securities markets in ways that increase risk:
- They trade continuously, including overnight, weekends, and holidays, so positions can move substantially while you are not watching.
- They are frequently more volatile than equities, and price moves of very large magnitude can occur in minutes.
- Many digital assets are thinly traded, which can make it difficult to transact at or near a displayed price.
- Regulatory treatment is unsettled and varies by jurisdiction, and may change with little notice in ways that affect value, transferability, or legality.
- Trading venues carry their own operational, security, and solvency risks, independent of any asset’s merits.
- Transactions on public blockchains are typically irreversible.
- An asset may be delisted by a venue, or become illiquid, with little or no notice.
- Protocols may fork, migrate, rebrand, or be abandoned, and tokens may be renamed or replaced.
- Digital assets are subject to theft, fraud, protocol defects, and smart-contract exploits, and to market manipulation that may be difficult to detect.
Digital assets are generally not covered by SIPC, FDIC, or comparable investor or deposit protection schemes.
10. No Warranty
The App is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE," without warranty of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Scope Labs LLC disclaims all warranties, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, and any warranties arising from course of dealing or usage of trade.
Without limiting the above, no warranty is given that the App will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that data displayed will be accurate, complete, or current.
Some jurisdictions do not permit the exclusion of certain warranties. Where such law applies, the exclusions above apply only to the extent permitted, and you may have additional rights.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Scope Labs LLC and its officers, directors, employees, contractors, and suppliers will not be liable for any trading losses, investment losses, lost profits, lost opportunities, lost data, or any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use of, or inability to use, the App — whether based in contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability, or any other theory, and whether or not Scope Labs LLC was advised of the possibility of such damages.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the total aggregate liability of Scope Labs LLC for all claims relating to the App will not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you paid for the App in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) US$50.
Nothing in this document excludes or limits liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you, and you may have additional rights.
11A. Time Limit for Bringing a Claim
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, any claim arising out of or relating to the App must be brought within one (1) year after the event giving rise to it, or it is permanently barred. Where applicable law does not permit that period to be shortened, the shortest period that law does permit applies instead.
11B. No Duty Beyond This Document
Scope Labs LLC owes you no duty of care, no duty to monitor markets on your behalf, no duty to verify third-party data, no duty to detect or correct an error in it, and no duty to notify you of one. The App is a display of information obtained elsewhere. Reliance on it is your own decision and is at your own risk, and no statement in the App, in any store listing, or in any other material creates a relationship of trust, confidence, or dependence between us.
12. Availability and Changes to the App
The App, and any data or feature within it, may be modified, suspended, limited, or discontinued at any time, in whole or in part, with or without notice. Scope Labs LLC has no obligation to continue offering the App, to maintain any particular data source, or to preserve any feature, ranking, calculation, or threshold in its current form.
The App is not directed to any person in any jurisdiction where its distribution or use would be contrary to law. You are responsible for determining whether your use of the App, and any transaction you undertake, is lawful where you are, and for complying with all laws that apply to you, including tax, sanctions, and securities laws.
12A. Photosensitivity and Flashing Content — Health Warning
The App’s interface flashes, flickers, pulses and glows throughout. Its visual style is deliberately animated: borders flicker like neon signage, icons blink on irregular schedules, indicators pulse, and coloured sweeps move across rows. These effects appear on most screens and are not confined to one feature you can avoid.
A small number of people can have seizures triggered by flashing lights or patterns, including people who have never had a seizure before and have no diagnosis of epilepsy. This is usually called photosensitive epilepsy or a photosensitive seizure.
If you have photosensitive epilepsy, any other seizure disorder, or have ever had a seizure, you should not use the App. If you are unsure whether this applies to you, consult a doctor before using it. Do not rely on this document to decide a medical question.
Turning on Reduce Motion in your device settings stops the App’s animations. On iOS this is under Settings › Accessibility › Motion › Reduce Motion. The App checks that setting and does not run pulses, glows, sweeps or flickers while it is on, and nothing the App tells you depends on motion. This reduces the flashing but is not a medical safeguard, and it is not a substitute for advice from a doctor.
Stop using the App immediately and consult a doctor if you or anyone using it experiences dizziness, light-headedness, altered vision, eye or muscle twitching, involuntary movements, loss of awareness, disorientation, confusion, or convulsions.
You may be able to reduce the risk by using the App in a well-lit room, holding the device further away, taking regular breaks, and not using it while tired.
Nothing in this section is medical advice, and Scope Labs LLC is not qualified to give any. It is a warning about how the App looks, so that you can decide — with a doctor where appropriate — whether to use it at all.
13. Your Responsibilities
By using the App you confirm that:
- you are of legal age to enter a binding contract where you live, and are legally permitted to use the App and to transact in digital assets in your jurisdiction;
- you are responsible for independently verifying any information before acting on it;
- you will seek advice from a licensed financial, tax, or legal professional before making decisions where such advice is appropriate;
- you accept sole responsibility for your decisions and their outcomes.
14. Apple
Apple Inc. is not a party to these disclaimers, is not responsible for the App or its content, and has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the App. Apple makes no warranty regarding the App and is not responsible for any claim relating to it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these disclaimers and may enforce them against you.
15. Governing Law and Severability
These disclaimers are governed by the laws of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, except where the mandatory consumer-protection law of your place of residence provides otherwise — in which case that law applies to the extent it must.
If any provision is held unenforceable, it will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will stay in full force. Sections 2A, 3 through 12, 11A, 11B and 16A survive any termination of your use of the App.
16. Acknowledgment
By downloading, opening, or using the App, you confirm that you have read and understood these disclaimers, that you accept them, and that you are not relying on any statement, representation, or assurance not expressly set out here.
16A. Nothing Outside These Documents Is a Promise
Descriptions of the App in the App Store listing, screenshots, promotional text, release notes, support replies, or any other material are summaries written to be read quickly. They are not warranties, they are not part of any agreement between us, and where any of them can be read as saying more than this document says, this document governs.
No employee, contractor, or other person has authority to give a warranty or make a representation about the App on our behalf beyond what is written here. If something matters to your decision to use the App, it must appear in these documents — and if it does not appear here, you should not assume it.
17. Changes
These disclaimers may be updated as the App changes. Material changes will be reflected in the version and date at the top of this document. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised version.
